Voting Tool
Viewers vote by commenting an option number or option text; the widget shows votes and percentages live. Store up to 5 votes per live room.
What it does
The Voting Tool lets viewers vote through comments. You set a title and 2–10 options; once the vote starts, viewers comment the matching number (or option text) and the widget shows each option's votes and percentage live, stopping automatically when the countdown ends. It works well for either-or questions, multiple choice, picking sides, song requests and anything else where you want viewers to take a stand.
Go to Extras → Voting Tool. On the left, My Votes lists this room's voting configurations — each card is a widget preview. On the right, Rule Settings edits the selected one. Each room can hold up to 5; it's best to prepare all the votes you need before going live.
Preparing votes
- With no configurations yet, click Add; after that, click the plus on the dashed card at the end of the list.
- Click a card to select it: its settings appear on the right and the widget link in the bottom bar switches to it.
- Changes save automatically. Delete at the bottom of the right column removes the current configuration.
Rule settings
| Setting | What it does | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Voting Type | How viewers take part | Only Comment Voting for now |
| Result Display | What the widget shows | Percent and Count, Percent or Count |
| Allow multiple votes | Whether a viewer can vote more than once | When off, only each viewer's first valid vote in a round counts |
| Counting rule | Which comments count as a vote | See below |
The three Counting rule options (comments are compared after trimming leading and trailing spaces):
- Option number: the comment must exactly equal an option number (e.g.
1,2). This is the default. - Option text: the comment must exactly equal an option's text, case-insensitive; options with no text can never be matched.
- Number or text: either counts — numbers are matched first, then text.
Other settings
| Setting | Notes |
|---|---|
| Sort by result | When on, options are ordered by votes, highest first |
| Title | The question at the top of the widget, up to 48 characters |
| Duration | How many seconds the vote runs; 120 by default |
| Options | 2–10 options, up to 40 characters each; click Add for more — options 3 and up can be deleted |
During the stream
- Click Start Collecting in the bottom bar first. If collection isn't running, starting a vote shows "Enable live room message collection first."
- Click Start beside the card you want. The countdown begins and comments start being counted.
- When the countdown reaches 0 the vote ends on its own, the card shows Ended, and the results stay on the widget.
The three buttons beside each card:
- Start: start this round. Starting again clears the votes and restarts the countdown.
- Clear: reset the votes to zero while the countdown keeps running.
- Reset: go back to Not started — votes cleared and the countdown restored.
Only one vote can run at a time. If another vote is still running when you click Start, you'll be asked whether to end it first; if you confirm, that vote goes back to not started and its votes are cleared.
Adding it to OBS
Select a card, click Copy Link next to Widget Link: in the bottom bar, and add it as described in Widgets and OBS. Every vote has its own link, so copy and add each one you plan to use. Widget links contain an access credential — don't share them publicly.
Notes
- If some changes haven't been saved when you start (for example, a save just failed), you'll see "You have unsaved changes here — save them before starting the vote." Click Save in the bottom-right corner to retry, then start again.
- With the Option text counting rule, at least one option needs text, or the vote won't start.
- Keep options short so viewers can type them easily.
