Timer
Put a countdown, add/subtract timer, stopwatch or clock on stream; add/subtract timers gain or lose time from likes, follows and gifts.
What the Timer does
The Timer is an on-stream timer widget with four types:
| Type | Use |
|---|---|
| Countdown | Counts down from a set duration to 0 and shows your End text when it finishes; can turn red in the last seconds and play an end sound |
| Add/Subtract | Also counts down, but you can add or subtract time by hand, or let likes, follows and gifts add or subtract time automatically — good for "keep the timer alive" challenges |
| Stopwatch | Counts up from 0 |
| Local time | Shows the current time; nothing to start |
Where to find it: Extras → Timer (in the Utility group). Each live room can have up to 20 timers, and each timer has its own widget link.
Managing timers
My timers on the left lists all timers for the current room:
- Click the plus card at the end of the list to create a timer. It's named Timer N and starts as a Countdown.
- Click a timer to select it; Timer settings on the right and the widget link in the bottom bar switch to that timer.
- Each card shows the status (Not started, Running, Paused, Ended), the type and the time, plus two buttons: Start (which becomes Pause while running, Resume when paused, and Restart after it ends) and Reset. Local time timers don't have these buttons.
- The trash button on a card deletes the timer; its widget link stops working immediately.
Timer settings
The preview at the top right can switch between transparent, dark and light backgrounds. Settings save automatically.
Skin
- Type: one of the four types. It can't be changed while the timer is running or paused — Reset first. After switching type, everything except the name, background opacity, font size and widget title goes back to that type's defaults.
- Skin: Simple, LCD, Digital, Pop, Neon, Flip, Flame and more. Ring is only for countdowns, and Analog only for local time.
- Color: the colors on offer depend on the skin.
- Widget title (Add/Subtract only): shown above the digits for viewers, up to 40 characters; leave it empty to hide it. You can also set Title size and Title background (Black 60% or White 60%).
Basics
- Name: only used in the list on the left to tell timers apart; up to 20 characters, not shown on the widget.
- Duration (Countdown and Add/Subtract): minutes : seconds, from 10 seconds up to 24 hours.
- Background opacity and Font size: the widget's overall size is set by the font size.
Extras
- Countdown: End text (up to 20 characters, shown in place of the digits when time is up); Warning color, which turns the digits red once the remaining time is at or below the seconds you set; End sound, with adjustable volume and a Preview button.
- Stopwatch: Show hours.
- Local time: Show seconds and 12-hour clock.
- Add/Subtract: see the next section.
Add/Subtract timers
Manual adjust
Manual adjust has six buttons: +5m, +1m, +10s and -10s, -1m, -5m. The timer has to be started first, otherwise you'll see Start the timer first. If a subtraction would take the remaining time to 0, a This will end the timer prompt asks you to confirm. Adding time to a timer that has already ended sets it running again with the added time.
Auto add/subtract
Only works while the timer is running; reaching 0 ends it.
- Likes: Per like, add or subtract a number of seconds.
- Follow: Per new follower, add a number of seconds (add only).
- Gifts: when on, choose one of the three methods below.
| Gift method | Rule |
|---|---|
| Specific gifts | Two columns, + Add and − Subtract, up to 5 gifts each, each with its own seconds; the amount is multiplied by how many gifts arrive. A gift rule bar appears below the widget, so make the OBS browser source taller. Gifts that aren't in the current room's gift list won't take effect |
| By coins | Every N coins adds or subtracts a number of seconds; leftover coins carry over across gifts and clear on Reset |
| By count | Per gift adds or subtracts 1 second; combos count each gift |
Safety limit
Turn on Cap and enter a number of minutes: once the remaining time reaches the cap, no more time is added (0 means no limit). The cap only limits adding — subtracting isn't limited — and the Duration can't exceed it either. Adding time by hand at the cap shows Adjustment not applied.
Adding it to OBS
Select the timer you want on the left; Widget Link: in the bottom bar shows its link. Click Copy Link and add it as a browser source as described in Widgets and OBS. Copy one link per timer. The widget's size follows the font size, so size the browser source to fit what you see.
The widget gets its data through our server, so OBS can run on any computer. Widget links contain an access credential — don't share them publicly.
Notes
- Reset clears the current timer progress, after a confirmation.
- Automatic adding and subtracting from likes, follows and gifts only applies to Add/Subtract timers, and only while running — click Start Collecting in the bottom bar first.
